CHEM221: Biochemistry I with Laboratory
This course is the first half of a one-year sequence intended for Biological Chemistry majors and others who want an in-depth introduction to biochemistry. It focuses on the structure of biological molecules and how they are assembled to form functioning macromolecules. This course will revisit many concepts that were covered in other chemistry and biology courses with an emphasis on how these two disciplines can be integrated into a single interdisciplinary approach, to better understand and explain the world we live in. Throughout the semester, we also pay particular attention to experimental and computational tools that are used to study these systems. This first half of the one-year course sequence is divided into two units: Fundamental building blocks of biochemistry and Information Transfer.
