CHEM222: Introducion to Biochemistry Lecture and Lab

This course is designed to serve as an introduction to the field of biochemistry for science majors and premed students. During this single semester course students are expected to develop a strong conceptual understanding for the underlying basis of a wide range of biochemical phenomena and the required skill sets to facilitate critical evaluation of biochemical work. The course has a modular structure with three main units. The first unit covers the building blocks of biological macromolecules, the second unit focuses on ligand binding and enzyme kinetics, while the last unit is an introduction to metabolic pathways.  The course culminates in an oral presentation of a group final project.
